  • Response of seedling community to season and topography in mid mountain moist evergreen broad leaved forest in the Ailao shan , Yunnan

Subjects: Biology >> Botany >> Applied botany submitted time 2024-05-07 Cooperative journals: 《广西植物》

Abstract: Seedling is the most important stage during the life history of plant and plays a critical role in the forest regeneration. We studied the species composition seasonal dynamics and spatial distribution of tree seedlings in the 20 hm 2 Ailaosha n forest dynamics plot . The forest dynamics plot was built in a mid mountain moist evergreen broad leaved forest in the Ailaoshan. Within the 20 hm 2 plot, we established 450 seedling quadrats of size 1 m × 1 m . We investigated the species composition, seas onal recruitment, seasonal mortality and spatial distribution of tree seedlings for four years ( from 2019 to 2022). The results were as follows: 1 We recorded a total of 2 928 seedlings of 58 species belonging to 42 genera and 26 families. There were 817 recruits of 47 species and 1 181 dead seedlings of 50 species. (2) The i mportance val u e s of tree seedlings varied among different tree species across years . Symplocos ramosissima and Machilus bombycina were t he dominant species, with importan ce values con sistently in the top 2 in four years while the importan ce value of the pioneer species Viburnum cyclindricum decline d continuously (3) W e didn't find significant differences in species richness, average species richness in a quadrat, species diversity S hannon Wiener index, Simpson index) index), abundance, recruits, recruitment rate, mortality and mortality rate of tree seedlings between different seasons. 4 The majority of species exhibited restricted distribution within the plot, wh ile only a few species di splayed a broader distribution across the plot. Topography was found to determine the distribution and diversity of tree seedlings with higher species richness, density and diversity (Shannon Wiener index and Simpson index) in the flat topography compared to the ridge and valley of the plot . T hese findings suggest that we don't find significant differences in community composition, recruitment and mortality of tree seedlings between different seasons. Topography influences the spatial distribution and diver sity of tree seedlings. The present study reveals the dynamics of recruitment and mortality of tree seedlings and provide the theoretical basis for biodiversity conservation and forest management.

  • 网络游戏中化身参照的加工优势:来自行为与ERPs的证据

Abstract: As one of the ways to present oneself in virtual environments, avatars in online games exert an important influence on players' cognition and behavior in both virtual and real life. The self-reference effect suggests that materials related to oneself are easier to remember than materials related to others. Due to the manipulability and high emotional involvement of avatars, players may feel close to their avatars and can sometimes even be integrated with them. Therefore, for game players, avatar-related information may have the same processing priority as self-related information. In the current study, we designed two experiments to investigate the processing priority of avatars in online games. Experiment 1 recruited 40 players of League of Legends (LOL) to investigate the processing priority of avatar reference in online games from the perspective of memory. This experiment adopted the R/K paradigm to compare memory performance under three different reference conditions (avatar-name, self-name and familiar other's name). Experiment 2 recruited 20 players of LOL to investigate the processing priority of avatar-related information in online games from the perspective of neural mechanisms, with event related potential (ERP) technology. This experiment adopted the oddball paradigm to compare the brain mechanisms of three kinds of stimulations (the names of familiar avatar, familiar other from the same country and familiar other from other country). Results of behavioral experiment (Experiment 1) showed that: (1) The total recognition rate, R response recognition rate, and discrimination d′ in the avatar-reference condition were much better than those in the other-reference condition, which preliminarily suggests that there were memory processing priorities of avatar reference in online games. (2) When referring to self-reference, the total recognition rate, response recognition rate, and discriminationd′ were much better than those in the conditions of the avatar-reference and other-reference. In summary, the preliminary results of Experiment 1 confirmed the superiority of avatar reference in memory performance, but the avatar-reference effect was not as strong as the self-reference effect. Results of ERP (Experiment 2) showed that in the P2 (160~260 ms) processing stage, greater amplitude was induced when processing the name of the avatar than that of familiar others from a different country. In terms of P3 (370~600 ms), greater amplitude was induced when processing the name of the avatar than the names of familiar others from the same country and other country. Moreover, compared with processing the names of familiar others from other countries, the latency was shorter when processing the avatar's name. Both behavioral and ERPs results indicate that there exists processing priority of avatar-reference effect in both memory and neural mechanisms. Specifically, compared with familiar others, online game players have processing priority for information related to avatars. The present study expands the theory of reference effect and provides evidence for the processing priority of the avatar-reference in online games from cognitive neuroscience.

  • Evaluation of long-term intervention effects of using smart sports bracelets in community-based type 2 diabetes patients

Subjects: Medicine, Pharmacy >> Clinical Medicine submitted time 2022-10-13 Cooperative journals: 《中国全科医学》

Abstract: Background China accounts for 28% of the world's diabetic patients, but patient adherence to treatment is not high, which is related to the low level of specialization in lifestyle behavioral therapy. Training and education of dietitians and exercise prescribers have only started in China in recent years, and even fewer people have mastered the theory and implementation of behavioral interventions, and the number of practicing professionals is quite limited. Objective To construct a community intervention model for type 2 diabetes patients using smart sports bracelets and evaluate the long-term management effect. MethodsEach administrative district in Guangzhou selected one primary health care institution to recruit diabetes as study subjects. Intervention group and control group were matched by age and sex. Exercise was prescribed in accordance with the exercise guidelines for diabetes. The bracelet intervention group used sports bracelet for continuous follow-up management, while the control group used conventional management mode. Both groups were followed up one year later. Results After 1 year, compared to baseline, HbA1c compliance rate increased by 12.74% (P=0.02) in bracelet intervention group. Both self-management and diet management behavior scores were significantly increased in intervention group, and waist circumference was significantly reduced (all P<0.05). Fasting blood glucose, triglyceride and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in control group were improved (all P<0.05). After 1 year, the HbA1c compliance rate was significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group (P=0.03).After adjusting for age, sex and family history of diabetes, duration of disease, triacylglycerol and apolipoprotein B were found to be influential factors for elevated HbA1c (all P < 0.05).After adjusting for age, sex and family history of diabetes, duration of disease, triacylglycerol and apolipoprotein B were found to be influential factors for elevated HbA1c(all P<0.05).ConclusionUsing a smart sports bracelet helps people with diabetes maintain self-management behaviors over time and keep their blood sugar at target.Dyslipidemia is an important factor affecting blood glucose control and should be paid attention to. On the basis of lifestyle modification, pharmacological interventions should be initiated as early as possible to regulate lipid metabolism disorders.
