A Study on the Trend of International Mobility of Chinese Researchers

Abstract： [Purpose/significance] Based on the comprehensive standardization and reconstruction of Chinese researchers' ORCID biographies, we analyze in depth the international mobility trends and characteristics of Chinese researchers, and provide an empirical basis for the formulation of national talent policies.[Method/process] This paper used data mining methods to reconstruct the biographies of Chinese researchers by making full use of the authorship association information of scientific literature, and discussed the international mobility trends of Chinese researchers in depth and comprehensively from the perspectives of geographic distribution, mobility patterns, temporal trends, and mobility benefits.[Result/conclusion] With the improvement of China's science and technology innovation level, the mobility pattern of Chinese researchers is gradually diversified. China and countries along the Belt and Road have formed a talent circulation trend, and in the past five years, there has been a significant trend of talent return, and China has seen a surge of international students returning to China for employment. However, on the whole, the phenomenon of talent loss in China is still serious, and the attractiveness of quality talent is weak, mainly in terms of the imbalance between the introduction and loss of Chinese researchers in terms of quantity, and there is some room for improvement in the quality of internal and external exchanges of talents.
