Abstract:
Maintaining good physical function status has always been one of the most important health factors for peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. However, there has been no consensus on how to carry out physical activity/exercise intervention and maintain good physical function status in PD patients. To address these, the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) and the Global Renal Exercise Network (GREX) have developed and published the world's first clinical practice guideline for physical activity and exercise in PD patients in 2022. This article discusses and interprets the guideline from a clinical perspective and taking into account the situation in China and abroad. We focus on the following areas where clinicians and patients care most in clinical practice: the timing of physical activity and indwelling with PD fluid, core strength exercise, common symptoms and side effects and personalized exercise.
