Abstract: mainly describes the functional controversy of the State Grid smart meter and its importance in the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things. At present, the State Grid smart meter only has the primary interactive function, and in order to realize the "ubiquitous connection" and "holographic perception" of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things, the smart meter needs to have advanced interactive functions. Therefore, it is time to accelerate the development of the "smart" function of smart meters, which is a necessary choice to promote the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things. At the same time, the paper also points out that smart meters, as the only legal measuring instruments used as two-way power flow trade settlement, have the advantages of large volume, wide distribution, and close distance from users and other devices, and are the best nodes for ubiquitous connection and holographic perception. Therefore, accelerating the development of the "smart" function of smart meters is the only option to promote the implementation of the "ubiquitous connection" and "holographic perception" requirements of bidirectional power flow trade settlement metering of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things.
