The Hotspots and Frontiers Analysis of Library Science Abroad in 2022

Abstract: ［Purpose/significance］This dissertation analyzed the 392 articles published in eight SSCI journals of library science in 2022, summarized the hot topics and frontier topics, so as to provide reference for in-depth research and work practice in the library. ［Method/process］By using the content analysis method, this dissertation systematically reviewed the articles published in 2022 in the following eight journals: Journal of Documentation, College & Research Libraries, Library & Information Science Research, Journal of Librarianship and Information Science, Library Trends, The Library Quarterly, International Journal of Libraries and Information Studies, and The Journal of Academic Librarianship, from the aspects of research theme and content.［Result/conclusion］The analysis results showed that foreign library science research in 2022 covered ten topics: information behavior and user research, library management, library service, the basic theory of library and information science, subject education and teaching, information literacy, information processing and knowledge management, information measurement and information analysis, information ethics, and digital humanities; the research topics include information behavior and user research, library management and library service, and the frontier focused on two research topics of digital humanities and the basic theory of library and information science development. Taking this as a revelation, the future library science should take strengthening the library responsibility as the research content, and focus on the minority and weak reader groups.
