  • A study of predatory journal identification using Altmetrics metrics

Subjects: Digital Publishing >> Internet Journals submitted time 2024-01-26

Abstract: Purposes This article explores the effect of introducing the Altmetrics index into the identification of predatory journals, in order to provide a new perspectives for the identification of predatory journals. Methods Based on the logit regression model, three models for the identification of predatory journals were constructed using the average number of citations alone, the presence rate of altmetrics alone, and a combination of both indicators. The ROC curve was used to compare and analyze the fitting effects of the three models. Finally, journal data in invitation emails were used to validate the model effects. Findings The model integrating both average citations and Altmetrics existence rate performed the best for identifying predatory journals. with both indicators showing significant negative correlation with journal predatoriness. Validation using the data from 14 journals that sent out solicitation emails showed that over 85% of them were identified as predatory journals by the model, demonstrating the rationality of the model. Conclusions The application of the Altmetrics metric has shown good results and provides valuable new perspectives in the identification of the predatory journals.

Abstract: A kind of carbon fiber / graphene oxide multi-scale reinforcement was prepared by "grafting to" method, with raw materials of the graphene oxide fabricated by a modified Hummers method and the carbon fiber treated with silane coupling agent Kh550.The prepared product was characterized by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Ramanspectroscopy (Raman), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and infrared spectroscopy (IR). The mechanical properties and the conductivity of the reinforced carbon fiber were measured by electronic tensile strength tester for fiber and resistivity instrument. The results showthatafter grafting, the graphene oxide can be grafted onto grooves and defects of the carbon fiber surface; the number of unsaturated carbon atom increases andthe size of microcrystalline decreases on the surface of the carbon fiber; andthe tensile strength andthe fractureelongation of single carbon fiber may be increased up to 9.8% and 13.1%, respectively andhowever the conductivity of carbon fiber is reduced by 11.6%.

Abstract: In order to analyze the variation characteristics and the effect of microhabitat on leaf functional traits of woody plants in Tiankeng. Shenmu Tiankeng is a typical karst Tiankeng in Dashiwei Tiankeng Group in Guangxi, and there is a well-preserved underground forest that is easily accessible. Ten leaf functional traits (leaf thickness, leaf tissue density, leaf area, etc.) were selected to study woody plants in different microhabitats (bottom, waist, and edge) of Shenmu Tiankeng. Single-factor analysis of variance and correlation analysis were conducted to investigate the relationship between leaf functional traits in different microhabitats. The results were as follows: (1) The variable coefficient for leaf area (113.9%) was highest, while leaf carbon content was relatively stable (10.5%). (2) Ten leaf functional traits were almost no significant difference (P>0.05) for woody lianas in three different microhabitats. The leaf tissue density for trees was significantly higher at the edge and waist compared to the bottom, while the leaf potassium content for trees and shrubs, that the bottom was higher than the edge. (3) Leaf thickness was extremely significantly positively correlated with leaf area (P<0.01) at the edge of Tiankeng. The results of principal component analysis suggested that leaf tissue density (-0.833), leaf potassium content (0.782), and leaf dry matter content (-0.647) were the critical indicators for leaf functional traits of woody plants in different microhabitats of Shenmu Tiankeng. This study demonstrate that different growth types of woody plants can adapt to the three microhabitats of Tiankeng via the trade-off of leaf functional traits. This study is expected to provide theoretical guidance for the protection of Tiankeng vegetation.

[Objective] To explore whether driving characteristics affect the driver's stress response and behavior in the face of traffic stress events.

[Methods] In this study, the Vienna Test System (VTS) was used to test the participants of the driving simulation experiment. In the experiment, the participants was required to drive at the speed of 60km / h. The distance between the stress source and the tested vehicle corresponded to three kinds of traffic conflict time (TTC): 19.2m (TTC = 1s), 27.5m (TTC = 1.5s) and 35.8m (TTC = 2S). The set pair analysis model was used to evaluate the stress response of subjects. The value range of index evaluation grade was determined by K-means clustering, and the weight of index was determined by entropy weight method.

[Results] The results show that it is effective to judge the driver's stress response ability by driving characteristics, which is manifested in two points: first, under all stress distances, the stress response of participants with high driving characteristics is better than that of subjects with low driving characteristics. Second, when the stress distance is 19.2m (TTC = 1s), the evaluation of participant with high driving characteristics is two levels higher than that of participant with low driving characteristics, but only one level higher under other stress distances. Participants with low driving characteristics are more sensitive to the reduction of stress response distance than those with high driving characteristics.

[Limitations] The  sample involved in the experiment is the limitation of lack of various driver’s characteristics

[Conclusions] The results of this study prove the rationality of providing more than 1s traffic conflict time for drivers in traffic stress events, and can provide reference for the design of accident early warning and anti-collision system. At the same time, the mathematical method of grade evaluation proposed in this study is effective. By detecting the driving characteristic ability of drivers, we can distinguish their stress response ability on the road. This study provides a set of feasible rating ideas for the research of road traffic safety.
