Abstract: Full-information item bifactor analysis is an important statistical method in psychological and educational measurement, which can be seen as a rediscovery of the classical bifactor model and has seen wide applications in the past two decades. The item response model of full-information item bifactor analysis is described upon the introduction of the conception and characterization of full-information item bifactor analysis. Further, we introduced the dimension reduction method used in parameter estimation. Then, examples are provided for applications of the full-information item bifactor model in test measurement structure exploration or confirmation, score interpretation, and computerized adaptive testing. The measurement structure of full-information item bifactor analysis is accordance with most tests in the areas of psychology, education, and medical science. With the advantage in dimension reduction, it is believed that the full-information item bifactor analysis could be valuable and useful in various situations. At last, some future research directions and suggestions are put forward including parameter estimation, test linking, differential item functioning, model fit testing, and application of bifactor item response theory to computerized adaptive testing.

Abstract: Moral elevation refers to a positive moral emotion response to a situation that, when witnessing other’s moral behavior, people appreciates other’s virtue and feels moral sentiment elevated. Moral elevation has affective, physical, cognitive, and behavioral aspects. Moral elevation can be induced by materials and situations, and be measured by identifier words and scales. The formation of moral elevation needs two key mechanisms, including positive inner attribution and positive upward social comparison, and these mechanisms can be affected by the characteristics of other’s moral behavior and the observer’s characteristics. Moral elevation triggers activation of the cranial and autonomic nerve as well as endocrine reactivity. Psychological effects of moral elevation include promoting pro-social behavior and positive social cognition, and enhancing positive impact to oneself. Future researches of moral elevation should investigate its physiological mechanisms, explore its broaden-and-build effects, examine diverse cultural and indigenous populations, and consider applications to moral education.

Abstract: There are three aspects of controversy disputing whether Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) should be defined as an independent psychiatric disorder. Conceptually, it is difficult to clarify the differences between IGD and normal gaming behavior or other mental disorders, and it is not clear that the object of addiction is restricted to online games only, or contained offline games at the same time. With respect to the identification standards, the 9 criteria summarized by DSM-5 failed to depict the essential characteristics of IGD, and with inconsistent levels on content, diagnostic threshold etc. based on existing 18 diagnostic tools. Further, the research methods lack theoretical support, relaying too much on questionnaire data and ignoring the positive effects of video games. The contents of the controversies reveal that researchers lack an understanding of online gaming behavior. Therefore, it is difficult to distinguish normal and abnormal gaming behavior. Research in future should consider stepping back to study the online gaming behavior, exploring the characteristics of different types of internet games and analyzing factors which affect the behavior of Internet gaming and digging the positive contribution of video games, so as to define a clear description of the nature of Internet Gaming Disorder.
