摘要: We present the discovery of three pulsars in Globular Cluster M15 (NGC 7078) by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST).In the three pulsars, PSR~J2129+1210J (M15J) is a millisecond pulsar with a spinning period of 11.84 ms and a dispersion measure of 66.68 pc cm$^{-3}$.Both PSR~J2129+1210K and L (M15K and L) are long period pulsars with spinning periods of 1928 ms and 3961 ms, respectively,while M15L is the GC pulsar with the longest spinning period till now.The discoveries of M15K and L support the theory that core-collapsed Globular Clusters may contain partially recycled long period pulsars citep{verbunt-2014-slowpulsar}.With the same dataset, the timing solutions of M15A to H were updated,and the timing parameter P1 of M15F is different from the previous results, which is approximately 0.027$ times 10^{-18} ss^{-1}$ from our work and $0.032 times 10^{-18} ss^{-1}$ from Anderson's citep{anderson-1993}.As predicted by Rodolfi et al. citep{ridolfi-2017},the luminosity of M15C kept decreasing and the latest detection in our dataset is on December 20$^{ rm th}$, 2022.We also detected M15I for one more time.The different barycentric spin periods indicate that this pulsar should locate in a binary system,manifesting itself as the exceptional one in such a core-collapsing GC.

摘要: The inner boundary of a black hole accretion disk is often set to the marginally stable circular orbit (or the innermost stable circular orbit, ISCO) around the black hole. It is important for the theories of black hole accretion disks and their applications to astrophysical black hole systems. Traditionally, the marginally stable circular orbit is obtained by considering the equatorial motion of a test particle around a black hole. However, in reality the accretion flow around black holes consists of fluid, in which the pressure often plays an important role. Here we consider the influence of fluid pressure on the location of marginally stable circular orbit around black holes. It is found that when the temperature of the fluid is so low that the thermal energy of a particle is much smaller than its rest energy, the location of marginally stable circular orbit is almost the same as that in the test particle case. However, we demonstrate that in some special cases the marginally stable circular orbit can be different when the fluid pressure is large and the thermal energy becomes non-negligible comparing with the rest energy. We present our results for both the cases of non-spinning and spinning black holes. The influences of our results on the black hole spin parameter measurement in X-ray binaries and the energy release efficiency of accretion flows around black holes are discussed.

摘要: We present the estimation of the solar observation with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). For both the quite Sun and the Sun with radio bursts, when pointing directly to the Sun, the total power received by FAST would be out of the safe operational range of the signal chain, even resulting in the damage to the receiver. As a conclusion, the Sun should be kept at least $\sim 2^{\circ}$ away from the main beam during the observing at $\sim 1.25 {\ \rm GHz}$. The separation for lower frequency should be larger. For simplicity, the angular separation between the FAST beam and the Sun is suggested to be $\sim 5^{\circ}$ for observations on 200 MHz or higher bands.

摘要: Taking advantage of Gaussian process (GP), we obtain an improved estimate of the Hubble constant, $H_0=70.41\pm1.58$ km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$, using Hubble parameter [$H(z)$] from cosmic chronometers (CCH) and expansion rate function [$E(z)$], extracted from type Ia supernovae, data. We also use CCH data, including the ones with full covariance matrix, and $E(z)$ data to obtain a determination of $H_0=72.34_{-1.92}^{+1.90}$ km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$, which implies that the involvement of full covariance matrix results in higher values and uncertainties of $H_0$. These results are higher than those obtained by directly reconstructing CCH data with GP. In order to estimate the potential of future CCH data, we simulate two sets of $H(z)$ data and use them to constrain $H_0$ by either using GP reconstruction or fitting them with $E(z)$ data. We find that simulated $H(z)$ data alleviate $H_0$ tension by pushing $H_0$ values higher towards $\sim70$ km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$. We also find that joint $H(z)$ + $E(z)$ data favor higher values of $H_0$, which is also confirmed by constraining $H_0$ in the flat concordance model and 2-order Taylor expansion of $H(z)$. In summary, we conclude that more and better-quality CCH data as well as $E(z)$ data can provide a new and useful perspective on resolving $H_0$ tension.

摘要: We developed a GPU based single-pulse search pipeline (GSP) with candidate-archiving database. Largely based upon the infrastructure of Open source pulsar search and analysis toolkit (PRESTO), GSP implements GPU acceleration of the de-dispersion and integrates a candidate-archiving database. We applied GSP to the data streams from the commensal radio astronomy FAST survey (CRAFTS), which resulted in a quasi-real-time processing. The integrated candidate database facilitates synergistic usage of multiple machine-learning tools and thus improves efficient identification of radio pulsars such as rotating radio transients (RRATs) and Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs). We first tested GSP on pilot CRAFTS observations with the FAST Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) receiver. GSP detected all pulsars known from the the Parkes multibeam pulsar survey in the respective sky area covered by the FAST-UWB. GSP also discovered 13 new pulsars. We measured the computational efficiency of GSP to be ~120 times faster than the original PRESTO and ~60 times faster than a MPI-parallelized version of PRESTO.

摘要: We present a pulsar candidate identification and confirmation procedure based on a position-switch mode during the pulsar search observations. This method enables the simultaneous search and confirmation of a pulsar in a single observation, by utilizing the different spatial features of a pulsar signal and a radio frequency interference (RFI). Based on this method, we performed test pulsar search observations in globular clusters M3, M15, and M92. We discovered and confirmed a new pulsar, M3F, and detected the known pulsars M3B, M15 A to G (except C), and M92A.

摘要: We present a method by using the phase characteristics of radio observation data for pulsar search and candidate identification. The phase characteristics are relations between the pulsar signal and the phase correction in the frequency-domain, and we regard it as a new search diagnostic characteristic. Based on the phase characteristics, a search method is presented: calculating DM (dispersion measure) -- frequency data to select candidate frequencies, and then confirming of candidates by using the broadband characteristics of pulsar signals. Based on this method, we performed a search test on short observation data of M15 and M71, which were observed by Five-hundred-meter Aperture spherical radio Telescope (FAST), and some of the Galactic Plane Pulsar Snapshot survey (GPPS) data. Results show that it can get similar search results to PRESTO (PulsaR Exploration and Search TOolkit) while having a faster processing speed.

摘要: The energy cascade rate of turbulence can be measured with the structure function. In practice, the 3D velocity of the gas in molecular cloud is hard to measure, which makes the measurement of structure function difficult. In the case of thin molecular clouds perpendicular to the line of sight, the structure function $S^2_{ tt}$ can be measured with core velocity dispersion (CVD), ${\rm CVD}^2=\frac{1}{2}S^2_{ tt}$. This method was extended to the case when the thin molecular cloud is not perpendicular to the line of sight, with intersection angle $\theta$, ${\rm CVD}^2=\frac{1}{2}S^2_{ tt}\left(1-\frac{1}{8}\cos^2\theta\right)R^{2/3}$, where $R$ can be expressed with elliptic integrals of the second kind $E(k,\varphi)$ as $R=\frac{2}{\pi}E(\cos\theta,\frac{\pi}{2})$.

摘要: A sample of 279 massive red spirals was selected optically by Guo et al. (2020), among which 166 galaxies have been observed by the ALFALFA survey. In this work, we observe HI content of the rest 113 massive red spiral galaxies using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). 75 of the 113 galaxies have HI detection with a signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) greater than 4.7. Compared with the red spirals in the same sample that have been observed by the ALFALFA survey, galaxies observed by FAST have on average a higher S/N, and reach to a lower HI mass. To investigate why many red spirals contain a significant amount of HI mass, we check color profiles of the massive red spirals using images observed by the DESI Legacy Imaging Surveys. We find that galaxies with HI detection have bluer outer disks than the galaxies without HI detection, for both ALFALFA and FAST samples. For galaxies with HI detection, there exists a clear correlation between galaxy HI mass and g-r color at outer radius: galaxies with higher HI masses have bluer outer disks. The results indicate that optically selected massive red spirals are not fully quenched, and the HI gas observed in many of the galaxies may exist in their outer blue disks.

摘要: Using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), we search for HI narrow-line self-absorption (HINSA) features in twelve Planck Galactic cold clumps (PGCCs), one starless core L1521B and four star forming sources. Eight of the 12 PGCCs have emission of J=2-1 of cyanoacetylene (HC3N). With an improved HINSA extraction method more robust for weaker and blended features with high velocity resolution, the detection rates of HINSA in PGCCCs are high, at 92% overall (11/12) and 87% (7/8) among sources with HC3N J=2-1 emissions. Combining the data of molecular spectra and Planck continuum maps, we studied the morphologies, abundances and excitations of HI, CO and HC3N in PGCCs. The distribution of HINSA is similar to that of CO emission. HINSA tends to be not detected in regions associated with warm dust and background ionizing radiation, as well as regions associated with stellar objects. The abundances of HI in PGCCs are approximately 3E-4, and vary within a factor of ~3. The non-thermal velocity dispersions traced by C18O J=1-0 and HINSA are consistent with each other (0.1-0.4 km/s), larger than those of HC3N (~0.1 km/s). Carbon chain molecule abundant PGCCs provide a good sample to study HINSA.

摘要: The Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) is a ring-like structure sitting at the center of the Milky Way. Using the 870 $\mu$m continuum map from the APEX Telescope Large Area Survey of the Galaxy (ATLASGAL), we study the anisotropy of the density structure of the gas in the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) using the 2D correlation function. To quantify the spatial anisotropy, we define the critical angle $\theta_{\rm half}$, as well as the anisotropy parameter $A\equiv \frac{\pi}{4\theta_{\rm half}}-1$. We find that the density structure is strongly anisotropic at the large scale (~ 100 pc), and the degree of spatial anisotropy decreases with the decreasing scale. At the scale of ~ 10 pc, the structure is still mildly anisotropic. In our analyses, we provide a quantitative description of the anisotropic density structure of gas in the CMZ, and the formalism can be applied to different regions to study their differences.

摘要: We present 850 $\mu$m dust polarization observations of the massive DR21 filament from the B-fields In STar-forming Region Observations (BISTRO) survey, using the POL-2 polarimeter and the SCUBA-2 camera on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. We detect ordered magnetic fields perpendicular to the parsec-scale ridge of the DR21 main filament. In the sub-filaments, the magnetic fields are mainly parallel to the filamentary structures and smoothly connect to the magnetic fields of the main filament. We compare the POL-2 and Planck dust polarization observations to study the magnetic field structures of the DR21 filament on 0.1--10 pc scales. The magnetic fields revealed in the Planck data are well aligned with those of the POL-2 data, indicating a smooth variation of magnetic fields from large to small scales. The plane-of-sky magnetic field strengths derived from angular dispersion functions of dust polarization are 0.6--1.0 mG in the DR21 filament and $\sim$ 0.1 mG in the surrounding ambient gas. The mass-to-flux ratios are found to be magnetically supercritical in the filament and slightly subcritical to nearly critical in the ambient gas. The alignment between column density structures and magnetic fields changes from random alignment in the low-density ambient gas probed by Planck to mostly perpendicular in the high-density main filament probed by JCMT. The magnetic field structures of the DR21 filament are in agreement with MHD simulations of a strongly magnetized medium, suggesting that magnetic fields play an important role in shaping the DR21 main filament and sub-filaments.

摘要: Magnetic fields play an important role in the evolution of interstellar medium and star formation. As the only direct probe of interstellar field strength, credible Zeeman measurements remain sparse due to the lack of suitable Zeeman probes, particularly for cold, molecular gas. Here we report the detection of a magnetic field of $+$3.8 $\pm$ 0.3 $\mu$G through the HI narrow self-absorption (HINSA) toward L1544, a well-studied prototypical prestellar core in an early transition between starless and protostellar phases characterized by high central number density and low central temperature. A combined analysis of the Zeeman measurements of quasar HI absorption, HI emission, OH emission, and HINSA reveals a coherent magnetic field from the atomic cold neutral medium (CNM) to the molecular envelope. The molecular envelope traced by HINSA is found to be magnetically supercritical, with a field strength comparable to that of the surrounding diffuse, magnetically subcritical CNM despite a large increase in density. The reduction of the magnetic flux relative to the mass, necessary for star formation, thus seems to have already happened during the transition from the diffuse CNM to the molecular gas traced by HINSA, earlier than envisioned in the classical picture where magnetically supercritical cores capable of collapsing into stars form out of magnetically subcritical envelopes.

摘要: We study the HII regions associated with the NGC 6334 molecular cloud observed in the sub-millimeter and taken as part of the B-fields In STar-forming Region Observations (BISTRO) Survey. In particular, we investigate the polarization patterns and magnetic field morphologies associated with these HII regions. Through polarization pattern and pressure calculation analyses, several of these bubbles indicate that the gas and magnetic field lines have been pushed away from the bubble, toward an almost tangential (to the bubble) magnetic field morphology. In the densest part of NGC 6334, where the magnetic field morphology is similar to an hourglass, the polarization observations do not exhibit observable impact from HII regions. We detect two nested radial polarization patterns in a bubble to the south of NGC 6334 that correspond to the previously observed bipolar structure in this bubble. Finally, using the results of this study, we present steps (incorporating computer vision; circular Hough Transform) that can be used in future studies to identify bubbles that have physically impacted magnetic field lines.

摘要: As a major approach to looking for life beyond the Earth, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) is committed to detecting technosignatures such as engineered radio signals that are indicative of technologically capable life. In this paper, we report a targeted SETI campaign employing an observation strategy named multi-beam coincidence matching (MBCM) at the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) towards 33 known exoplanet systems, searching for ETI narrow-band drifting signals across 1.05-1.45 GHz in two orthogonal linear polarization directions separately. A signal at 1140.604 MHz detected from the observation towards Kepler-438 originally peaked our interest because its features are roughly consistent with assumed ETI technosignatures. However, evidences such as its polarization characteristics are almost able to eliminate the possibility of an extraterrestrial origin. Our observations achieve an unprecedented sensitivity since the minimum equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) we are able to detect reaches 1.48 x10^9 W.

摘要: We present BISTRO Survey 850 {\mu}m dust emission polarisation observations of the L1495A-B10 region of the Taurus molecular cloud, taken at the JCMT. We observe a roughly triangular network of dense filaments. We detect 9 of the dense starless cores embedded within these filaments in polarisation, finding that the plane-of-sky orientation of the core-scale magnetic field lies roughly perpendicular to the filaments in almost all cases. We also find that the large-scale magnetic field orientation measured by Planck is not correlated with any of the core or filament structures, except in the case of the lowest-density core. We propose a scenario for early prestellar evolution that is both an extension to, and consistent with, previous models, introducing an additional evolutionary transitional stage between field-dominated and matter-dominated evolution, observed here for the first time. In this scenario, the cloud collapses first to a sheet-like structure. Uniquely, we appear to be seeing this sheet almost face-on. The sheet fragments into filaments, which in turn form cores. However, the material must reach a certain critical density before the evolution changes from being field-dominated to being matter-dominated. We measure the sheet surface density and the magnetic field strength at that transition for the first time and show consistency with an analytical prediction that had previously gone untested for over 50 years (Mestel 1965).
