Assessing and thoughts on the quality and communication effect of video abstracts based on audience perspective——taking Chinese Polymer video abstracts as an example

Abstract： Abstract： Purposes  This paper aims to discuss the strategy for the construction of video abstracts of domestic academic journals by investigating the target audience's recognition of video abstracts and their evaluation of the quality and dissemination effects of video abstracts. Methods  Combining with the practice of "Chinese Polymer" video abstracts, a questionnaire survey on the media format, dissemination advantages, production intention, content elements and video evaluation, was conducted with researchers in the field of polymer as the research target, and the results were analyzed. Findings  The target audiences have a high expectation on the communication effect of the video abstracts, but the advantages of the video abstracts of " Chinese Polymer" have not been maximized, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of content and presentation. Conclusions  It is suggested that journals should be strengthened from three aspects: producing video abstracts from audience needs, extending the content appropriately to increase academic content, and enriching the presentation of video abstracts to improve interest; increasing the frequency of promotion, broadening the breadth of publicity, and customizing the production of video abstracts for different platforms; making good use of artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of video abstracts dissemination.
