摘要: In the past few years, Chinese astronomical community is actively testing astronomical sites for several new optical/infrared ground-based telescopes. These site testing campaigns conducted were mainly focused on fundamental performances of the site, such as cloud coverage, seeing, temperature, etc. With increasing interests in sodium laser guide star adaptive optics for these new telescopes in the Chinese astronomical community, it is interesting to investigate the performance of the laser guide star at these sites, especially considering that the sodium laser guide star's on-sky performance is significantly influenced by sites' local performances, such as geomagnetic field, sodium layer dynamics, density of air molecule, etc. In this paper, we studied sodium laser guide star's performance of a 20W class Quasi-CW pulsed laser developed by TIPC with numerical simulation for five selected sites in China.

摘要: Sterile neutrinos can affect the evolution of the universe, and thus using the cosmological observations can search for sterile neutrinos. In this work, we use the cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy data from the Planck 2018 release, combined with the latest baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO), type Ia supernova (SN), and Hubble constant ($H_0$) data, to constrain the cosmological models with considering sterile neutrinos. In order to test the influences of the properties of dark energy on the {results} of searching for sterile neutrinos, in addition to the $\Lambda$ cold dark matter ($\Lambda$CDM) model, we also consider the $w$CDM model and the holographic dark energy (HDE) model. We find that the existence of sterile neutrinos {is not preferred} when the $H_0$ local measurement is not included in the data combination. When the $H_0$ measurement is included in the joint constraints, it is found that $\Delta N_{\rm eff}>0$ is {favored} at about 2.7$\sigma$ level for the $\Lambda$CDM model and at about 1-1.7$\sigma$ level for the $w$CDM model. However, $m_{\nu,{\rm{sterile}}}^{\rm{eff}}$ still cannot be well constrained and only upper limits can be given. In addition, we find that the HDE model is definitely ruled out by the current data. We also discuss the issue of the Hubble tension, and we conclude that involving sterile neutrinos in the cosmological models cannot truly resolve the Hubble tension.

摘要: We explore a scenario of interacting dynamical dark energy model with the interaction term $Q$ including the varying equation-of-state parameter $w$. Using the data combination of the cosmic microwave background, the baryon acoustic oscillation, and the type Ia supernovae, to global fit the interacting dynamical dark energy model, we find that adding a factor of the varying $w$ in the function of $Q$ can change correlations between the coupling constant $\beta$ and other parameters, and then has a huge impact on the fitting result of $\beta$. In this model, the fitting value of $H_{0}$ is lower at the $3.54 \sigma$ level than the direct measurement value of $H_{0}$ . Comparing to the case of interacting dynamical dark energy model with $Q$ excluding $w$, the model with $Q$ including the constant $w$ is more favored by the current mainstream observation. To obtain higher fitting values of $H_{0}$ and narrow the discrepancy of $H_{0}$ between different observations, additional parameters including the effective number of relativistic species, the total neutrino mass, and massive sterile neutrinos are considered in the interacting dynamical dark energy cosmology. We find that the $H_{0}$ tension can be further reduced in these models, but is still at the about $3 \sigma$ level.

摘要: The brightness and height of the sodium laser guide star of adaptive optics could vary significantly due to the temporal dynamics of sodium column density and the mean height of sodium layer. To measure these dynamics, an independent sodium Lidar is a necessity. Without such an instrument, it is almost impossible to discern the cause of the brightness variation of laser guide star from the sodium layer's dynamics or other factors from the laser itself. For applications such as characterizing the performance of sodium laser for sodium laser guide star generation, minutes scale short term statistics of the sodium layers' abundance and height is extremely helpful for estimating the contribution of sodium layer's variation to the variation of laser guide star's brightness. In this paper, we analyzed our previous measurement of sodium layer dynamics that has been gathered in two winters, and presented the temporal variation statistics of sodium column density and mean height within minute time scale based on our measurements.

摘要: The application of sodium laser guide star is the key difference between modern adaptive optics system and traditional adaptive optics system. Especially in system like multi-conjugate adaptive optics, sodium laser guide star asterism which is formed by several laser guide stars in certain pattern is required to probe more atmospheric turbulence in different directions. To achieve this, a sodium laser guide star asterism launching platform is required. In this paper, we will introduce the sodium laser guide star asterism launching platform built and tested on the 1.8m telescope of the Gaomeigu Observatory. The platform has two functions: one is to compare the performance of sodium laser guide stars generated by different lasers at the same place; the other is to generate sodium laser guide star asterism with adjustable shape. The field test results at the beginning of 2021 verify the important role of the platform, which is also the first time to realize sodium laser guide star asterism in China.

摘要: Photometric redshift (photo-z) is a fundamental parameter for multi-wavelength photometric surveys, while galaxy clusters are important cosmological probers and ideal objects for exploring the dense environmental impact on galaxy evolution. We extend our previous work on estimating photo-z and detecting galaxy clusters to the latest data releases of the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) imaging surveys, Dark Energy Survey (DES), and Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program (HSC-SSP) imaging surveys and make corresponding catalogs publicly available for more extensive scientific applications. The photo-z catalogs include accurate measurements of photo-z and stellar mass for about 320, 293, and 134 million galaxies with $r<23$, $i<24$, and $i<25$ in DESI DR9, DES DR2, and HSC-SSP PDR3 data, respectively. The photo-z accuracy is about 0.017, 0.024, and 0.029 and the general redshift coverage is $z<1$, $z<1.2$, and $z<1.6$, respectively for those three surveys. The uncertainties of the logarithmic stellar mass that is inferred from stellar population synthesis fitting is about 0.2 dex. With the above photo-z catalogs, galaxy clusters are detected using a fast cluster-finding algorithm. A total of 532,810, 86,963, and 36,566 galaxy clusters with the number of members larger than 10 are discovered for DESI, DES, and HSC-SSP, respectively. Their photo-z accuracy is at the level of 0.01. The total mass of our clusters are also estimated by using the calibration relations between the optical richness and the mass measurement from X-ray and radio observations. 摘要: The sodium laser guide star (sLGS) adaptive optics (AO) system has become an essential component for large ground-based optical/infrared telescope. The performance of the AO system can be significantly hindered if the on-sky spot profile of its sLGS is degraded by the turbulence along the laser launching uplink path. One effective method to overcome this problem is to perform real-time pre-correction on the laser before it is launched onto the sky to counter this turbulence effect especially for the lower altitude where turbulence is stronger. The by-product Rayleigh backscatter generated by large molecule and aerosols at low altitude when projecting sLGS is a perfect candidate for real time detection of low altitude turbulence. It is therefore important to evaluate whether this by-product of a sodium laser guide star could achieve suitable performance for wavefront sensing. In this paper, we attempt to answer the question regarding to the achievable photon return of such Rayleigh backscattered plume. A comparison between results from our field test and theoretical model of MSISE-90 was presented. We showed that the greatest differences is less than 20% which hints the applicability of using the defocused Rayleigh plume as wavefront sensing signal for different turbulence strengths. The result also showed that in case of strong (Fried parameter (r0) of 5 cm) or moderate (r0 of 10 cm) turbulence, the optimum center for range gating is 9 km, and the corresponding value of range gate depths are 3 km, 1.1 km, 0.56 km and 0.28 km when subaperture sizes are 3 cm, 5 cm, 7 cm and 10 cm, with the maximum pulse repetition frequency at 1500 Hz.
