    Abstract: Based on mechanical characteristics of pile foundation in layered anisotropic soft soil layer , byconstructing the virtual cylindrical equivalent model and using the layered summation method , the theoreti-cal solutions of pile axial deformation and pile bottom settlement displacement are deduced , and calculationmethod of pile foundation settlement displacement suitable for arbitrary layered anisotropic stratum andload conditions is established.The settlement and displacement characteristics of pile foundation in layeredanisotropic stratum,the phenomenon of interface mutation and its evolution law with engineering and geo-logical factors are studied. The results show that there is a zero axial force horizontal plane in the pile sec-tion or the soil at the bottom of the pile with the depth varying with the load and engineering geological parameters. When the depth of the zero axial force plane is less than the length of the pile foundation , thepile foundation is in the friction bearing mode , and the settlement displacement of the pile foundation isequal to the deformation of the pile at the upper part of the section;On the contrary , the pile foundation isin the common bearing mode of friction and pile end, and the settlement displacement of pile foundation isequal to the superposition of pile deformation and pile bottom settlement. 'The field test results verify thecorrectness of the theoretical method.The established layered model and theoretical method can easily sim-ulate the soft soil stratum with approximate horizontal distribution and its engineering geological parame-ters , and can be directly applied to the bearing design and calculation of pile foundation in any layered an-isotropic stratum.
