Abstract:
In the current work, based on the classical lamination theory,an analytical model of the effective thermal expasion coefficient of the composite laminate is proposed. This model is applicable to the prediction of thermal expasion coefficients of both symmetric angle-lay laminate and asymmetric laminate.Meanwhile, taking the carbon nanotube-reinforced composite(CNTRC)laminate as an example, the effective thermal expansion coefficient is predicted for the antisymmetrical lamination angle. The calculation results show that due to the influence of the layer tensile-bending-shear coupling effect,CNTRC laminate can exhibit a negative thermal expansion(NTE)by choosing specific lamination angle such as(35/-35)3T and(55/-55)3T.This not only expands the application of functionally graded CNTRC structures but also provides new ideas for the design of the structure with NTE.
