Abstract: The flows of fluids with which one has to deal in engineering, and which one meets in nature, are turbulent in the overwhelming
majority of cases, and their de de encountered special cases, and that the classical de value, must be considered only as an introductory chapter to the theory of real turbulent flows, in which the objects of investigation
are the properties of ensembles of flows, arising from macroscopically identical external conditions.

Abstract: Ancient China recorded a wealth of astronomical observations, notably distinguished by the inclusion of empirical measurements of stellar observations. However, determining the precise observational epochs for these datasets poses a formidable challenge. This study employs the Generalized Hough Transform methodology to analyze two distinct sets of observational data originating from the Song and Yuan dynasties, allowing accurate estimation of the epochs of these stellar observations. This research introduces a novel and systematic approach, offering a scholarly perspective for the analysis of additional datasets within the domain of ancient astronomical catalogs in future investigations.

Abstract: Numerous great discoveries have been made in the field of deep space exploration over the past 50 years, and they deepen our knowledge and synergetic comprehension greatly about the Earth, Planets, and the Solar system. The deep space exploration not only acts as impetus to drive the development of modern science and technology, but also fosters the planetary physics as a new interdiscipline. This study analyzes the background and current status for the discipline of planetary physics, and compares the progress made on the planetary physics of China with that of the other well-developed countries. The relationship of the Chinese planetary physics with the other traditional disciplines, like geophysics, space physics etc., as well as with the projects of deep space missions is elaborated. Based on the current status and developing trend of planetary study, this paper presents possible directions as well as instructive suggestions for the development of Chinese planetary physics in the near future.

Abstract: Planetary science is a new and interdisciplinary discipline, which was established during the first upsurge of the international deep space explorations in 1960s—1970s of last century. Planetary science is the scientific study of the fundamental characteristics of planets, moons, and comets in the inner and outer of the solar system as well as their formation and evolution processes. Planetary science research mainly depends on deep space exploration, and it is highly interdisplinary and was built from Earth science, space science, and astronomy. The United States is the first country to build the planetary science discipline and the corresponding education system, and their strategy of science leading the deep space exploration makes them the only country in the world with strong planetary science program. Currently, the international deep space exploration is in the middle of second upsurge, and China’s deep space exploration program is under rapid development and has obtained remarkable and world-class achievements, which makes China a rising star in the field of deep space exploration. However, the planetary science discipline in China is not built yet and we also do not have corresponding education system, which neither matches nor supports China’s deep space exploration strategy. The slow development of the planetary science program has greatly limited China’s potential to become a country with powerful deep space exploration capability and strong planetary science program. Thus, the launching of planetary science program as the first level discipline is extremely urgent. University of Chinese Academy of Sciences together with some other universities have capability and advantages to lead the establishment of the first level discipline of planetary science in China and the corresponding education system, which can serve and lead the future deep space exploration and greatly help to promote China to be a country with strong planetary science program. By comparing the history of the development of planetary science program in the United States, we believe that we should take advantage of the philosophy of "The Fusion of Scientific Research and Teaching" in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and explore a way with China’s own characteristics to the creation of the first level discipline of planetary science.

Abstract: The Chinese government attaches great importance to the scientific quality of civil servants, “Outline of National Action Scheme of Scientific Literacy for All Chinese Citizens (2006-2020)” has make it one of the main actions. This study carefully combed the basic situation of leading cadres’ and civil servants’ scientific literacy in recent years, relying on the course platform “Scientific Thinking and Decision-making” of “Science and China” academicians and experts, in the form of a questionnaire survey on the scientific literacy construction of middle-level cadres and civil servants group in Guangdong Province, Hubei Province, and Xinjiang Autonomous Region. This study also analyzed the basic attitude, the needs of leading cadres and civil servants towards popular science activities and contents, and then put forward the target path and policy suggestions for improving the scientific literacy of leading cadres and civil servants.

Abstract: The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescope to be built soon is the largest astronomical observing facility, and it is expected to make revolutionary breakthroughs in the major frontiers of natural sciences to answer fundamental questions of origins, such as the origin of the Universe, the origin of life, the origin of the cosmic magnetic field, the nature of gravity, and search for extraterrestrial civilization. The unprecedented power of the SKA, characterized by the extremely high sensitivity, wide field of view, ultra-fast survey speed, super high time, space, and frequency resolutions ensures the leading position of the SKA in radio astronomy in next decades, which also produces a vast amount of observational data at ExaByte (EB) level. The transportation, storage, reading, writing, computing, management, archiving of the SKA-level data and the release of SKA science products have posed serious challenges on the technologies in the field of information and computers. China SKA science team will work together with the information, communication, and computer industry to tackle the challenges of the SKA big data, as not only promotes major original scientific discoveries, but also applies the derived technological achievements to stimulate the national economy.

Abstract:
High energy gamma-rays carry the fundamental information of the astrophysical sources in extreme conditions. The space detection of gamma-rays is distinguished by the wide energy range, the observation continuity as well as the high energy resolution. With the experience in constructing and running the DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE), we propose a new satellite mission——Very Large Area gamma-ray Space Telescope (VLAST). VLAST has an acceptance of ~10 m2·sr at GeV energies and ~ 1 m2·sr at MeV energies. Together with a much better energy resolution, VLAST is expected to increase the sensitivity of Fermi Large Area Telescope by a factor of 10. In this work, the main scientific objectives, the detection principle, the payload and the expected performance of VLAST are introduced.
