Abstract: [Purpose/significance] Scientific research, especially medical research, is full of uncertainty. Identifying contradictory knowledge claims in research will help identify "scientific divergence/inconsistent scientific conclusions", promote identification of potentially transformative scientific research and improve related research. [Method/process] Taking Alzheimer's disease as an example, this article used SemRep to extract triples from the PubMed abstract data. Based on the knowledge claim identification rules that represented contradictory meanings, this article classified source sentences according to the degree of uncertainty and used single-sentence recognition and cross-sentence recognition respectively to identify contradictory medical research knowledge claims expressed in the form of triples. [Result/conclusion] A total of 49 groups (involving 277 pairs of triples) contradictory knowledge claims are identified from 6574 PubMed medical abstracts. There are still some controversies and contradictions in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, which need to be further verified. The identification of contradictory knowledge claims provides new ideas for the frontier discoveries of potentially transformative medical research, which can be used for knowledge discovery based on knowledge measurement and provide references for the reliability calculation of knowledge graph.

  • The Chinese Librarians’ Alliance in North America: Historical Evolution, Organizational Form and Strategic Direction

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] This is the first systematic description and overall evaluation of the emergence, development and evolution of the Chinese librarians’ alliance in North America, which deeply reveals and accurately judges the identity and function of the alliance in the development of the global library and the construction of overseas Chinese society. [Method/Process] The formation process, structural evolution and strategic direction of the Chinese librarians’ alliance in North America were sorted out comprehensively. This paper focused on the background, process and impact of the formation of organizations such as the Council on East Asian Libraries, the Chinese American Librarians Association, and the Society for Chinese Studies Librarians, and analyzed the strategic significance of the cooperative alliance organizations of the China-US academic libraries alliance organizations in the era. [Result/Conclusion] The Chinese librarians’ alliance in North America has gone through the development stages of beginning, maturity, and deepening, moving from an early scattered group to a regional association, to a high-level qualitative change in the membership structure, to the creation of a deeply integrated professional model, and finally to a transnational alliance with the Chinese library community, building a strategic pattern of internal and external synergy and two-way win-win.

  • A Thematic Analysis of the Relationship between Emotion and Information Behavior and the Role of Emotion Under the Context of COVID-19

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] When public health emergency occurs, public emotion problems become particularly complex. To explore the roles of emotions in public information behaviors under public health emergencies is helpful for relevant departments to understand the changing characteristics of public emotions and their interplay with information behaviors, in order to improve the capacity to respond to such crisis emergencies, and slow down the disease psychological harm of the epidemic to the public. [Method/Process] Through a semi-structured interview with 32 members of the public, the thematic analysis method was used to extract the themes of the interplay between public emotions and information behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the roles of emotions in the interplay were also analyzed. [Result/Conclusion] It is found that during the COVID-19 epidemic, on the one hand, positive and negative emotions of the public are intertwined to form an emotion group, which drives the information behaviors in both explicit and deep ways. On the other hand, information behaviors also affect emotions: the one-way information output behavior is the way to release emotion, and the external interaction and the information characteristics in the behavior process all change the emotions. Finally, an interplay model of information behaviors and emotions is established to reveal the role of emotions in the process of "initial emotions——information behaviors——emotion changes", and provide some enlightenments for related departments when facing the public health emergencies.

  • Research on the Intelligence Analysis Model Based on the Component

Subjects: Library Science,Information Science >> Information Science submitted time 2023-04-01 Cooperative journals: 《图书情报工作》

Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] In view of the challenges faced by intelligence analysis in the era of big data, this paper proposes to introduce component theory into the field of intelligence analysis to build intelligence analysis model, in order to provide new theoretical basis and methodological guidance for intelligence analysis research and practice. [Method/Process] First of all, based on the current research state of the intelligence analysis model and the characteristics of component technology, this paper explained the basic idea of the component-based intelligence analysis model, then proposed the intelligence component, explained its connotation and the principle of atomization, and clarified its development framework and the application process. Finally, the application value was prospected from four aspects of automation, standardization, intelligence and open source. And the advantages and challenges of the component-based intelligence analysis model were summarized. [Result/Conclusion] Component-based intelligence analysis model can provide reference value for the improvement of intelligence analysis, and has great application and development space in the future.
