摘要: Plants evolved sophisticated genetic and metabolic mechanisms to shape their “core microbiome” under normal growth conditions. However, whether natural plant ecotypes re-shape a core “stress responsive microbiome” remains elusive. Considering that drought is the most serious abiotic stress worldwide, we conducted comparative microbiome analysis to study the potential conserved core root microbiome changes upon drought stress in natural Arabidopsis ecotypes. We screened the drought tolerance of 130 worldwide Arabidopsis ecotypes, and chose the extremely drought tolerant and sensitive ecotypes for comparative microbiome studies. We detected diverse differentially abundant ASVs , network driver taxa, as well as key functions pathways shared in diverse ecotypes upon drought stress, indicating the existence of some core drought-responsive microbiome changes. Our work unveiled the existence of a core drought-responsive microbiome and its critical role in enhancing plant fitness. This work also provided a research paradigm for guiding the discovery of stress-alleviating microbiomes in sustainable agriculture using natural ecotypes.

摘要: Drought is one of the most serious abiotic stresses which also shifts the composition of root associated microbiomes. However, there is a lack of genetic evidence regarding whether and how plant genetic effects positively reshape drought induced microbiome changes. Root hairs play essential roles in water uptaking, but whether root hairs also orchestrate microbiome re-shaping process during drought stress is unknown. By utilizing genetic mutants with enhanced or decreased root hair densities, we detected a significant effect of plant genetic effect on drought induced microbiome changes. In addition, the hairy mutant (gl2) triggers a deterministic process during drought induced microbiome re-assembly, which further confirms the involvement of host effects in re-shaping drought induced microbiome changes. Rhizobiaceae strains were detected as key biomarker species positively correlated with root hair densities. Moreover, the gl2 mutant also shapes more complex microbiome co-occurrence networks, with more Rhizobiaceae hubs. Our findings unveil the novel roles of root hairs in shaping microbiome structure and network interactions upon drought stress, particularly through regulating the abundance and network centrality of Rhizobiaceae strains. Root hair related mutants also broadly affect root metabolome upon drought stress. Understanding the physiological and microbial ecological basis of host mediated microbiome re-shaping under drought helps develop microbiome engineering approaches to combat climate changes.

摘要: In this paper we present a chemical and kinematic analysis of two ultra-faint dwarf galaxies (UFDs), Aquarius II (Aqu~II) and \text{Bo\"{o}tes II} (Boo~II), using Magellan/IMACS spectroscopy. We present the largest sample of member stars for Boo~II (12), and the largest sample of red-giant-branch members with metallicity measurements for Aqu~II (8). In both UFDs, over 80\% of targets selected based on $Gaia$ proper motions turned out to be spectroscopic members. In order to maximize the accuracy of stellar kinematic measurements, we remove the identified binary stars and RR Lyrae variables. For Aqu~II we measure a systemic velocity of $-65.3 \pm 1.8$ km s$^{-1}$ and a metallicity of [Fe/H] = $-2.57^{+0.17}_{-0.17}$. When compared with previous measurements, these values display a $\sim 6$ km s$^{-1}$ difference in radial velocity and a decrease of 0.27 dex in metallicity. Similarly for Boo~II, we measure a systemic velocity of $-130.4^{+1.4}_{-1.1}$ km s$^{-1}$, more than 10 km s$^{-1}$ different from the literature, a metallicity almost 1 dex smaller at [Fe/H] = $-2.71^{+0.11}_{-0.10}$, and a velocity dispersion 3 times smaller at $\sigma_{v_{\rm hel}} = 2.9^{+1.6}_{-1.2}$ km s$^{-1}$. Additionally, we derive systemic proper motion parameters and model the orbits of both UFDs. Finally, we highlight the extremely dark matter dominated nature of Aqu~II and compute the J-factor for both galaxies to aid searches of dark matter annihilation. Despite the small size and close proximity of Boo~II, it is an intermediate target for the indirect detection of dark matter annihilation due to its low velocity dispersion and corresponding low dark matter density.

摘要: Two GaN p-(i)-n diodes were designed and fabricated, and their electrical performances with 63Ni and 147Pm plate sources were compared. The results showed that the diodes with 147Pm had better electrical performances, with a short-circuit current (Isc) of 59 nA, an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.4 V, and a maximum power (Pmax) of 49.4 nw. The ways to improve the electrical performances are discussed, including appropriate increase of the i-GaN thickness.

摘要: We present spectroscopy of individual stars in 26 Magellanic Cloud (MC) star clusters with the aim of estimating dynamical masses and $V$-band mass-to-light ($M/L_V$) ratios over a wide range in age and metallicity. We obtained 3137 high-resolution stellar spectra with M2FS on the \textit{Magellan}/Clay Telescope. Combined with 239 published spectroscopic results of comparable quality, we produced a final sample of 2787 stars with good quality spectra for kinematic analysis in the target clusters. Line-of-sight velocities measured from these spectra and stellar positions within each cluster were used in a customized expectation-maximization (EM) technique to estimate cluster membership probabilities. Using appropriate cluster structural parameters and corresponding single-mass dynamical models, this technique ultimately provides self-consistent total mass and $M/L_V$ estimates for each cluster. Mean metallicities for the clusters were also obtained and tied to a scale based on calcium IR triplet metallicites. We present trends of the cluster $M/L_V$ values with cluster age, mass and metallicity, and find that our results run about 40 per cent on average lower than the predictions of a set of simple stellar population (SSP) models. Modified SSP models that account for internal and external dynamical effects greatly improve agreement with our results, as can models that adopt a strongly bottom-light IMF. To the extent that dynamical evolution must occur, a modified IMF is not required to match data and models. In contrast, a bottom-heavy IMF is ruled out for our cluster sample as this would lead to higher predicted $M/L_V$ values, significantly increasing the discrepancy with our observations.

摘要: The eighteenth data release of the Sloan Digital Sky Surveys (SDSS) is the first one for SDSS-V, the fifth generation of the survey. SDSS-V comprises three primary scientific programs, or "Mappers": Milky Way Mapper (MWM), Black Hole Mapper (BHM), and Local Volume Mapper (LVM). This data release contains extensive targeting information for the two multi-object spectroscopy programs (MWM and BHM), including input catalogs and selection functions for their numerous scientific objectives. We describe the production of the targeting databases and their calibration- and scientifically-focused components. DR18 also includes ~25,000 new SDSS spectra and supplemental information for X-ray sources identified by eROSITA in its eFEDS field. We present updates to some of the SDSS software pipelines and preview changes anticipated for DR19. We also describe three value-added catalogs (VACs) based on SDSS-IV data that have been published since DR17, and one VAC based on the SDSS-V data in the eFEDS field.
