摘要: The layout and characteristics of the hard X-ray spectroscopy beamline (BL11B) at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility are described herein. BL11B is a bending-magnet beamline dedicated to conventional millisecond-scale quick-scanning X-ray absorption fine structures. It is equipped with a cylindrical collimating mirror, a double-crystal monochromator comprising Si(111) and Si(311), a channel-cut quick-scanning Si(111) monochromator, a toroidal focusing mirror, and a high harmonics rejection mirror. It can provide 5–30 keV of X-rays with a photon flux of ~5 × 1011 photons/s and an energy resolution of ~ 1.31 × 10-4 at 10 keV. The performance of the beamline can satisfy the demands of users in the fields of catalysis, materials, and environmental science. This paper presents an overview of the beamline design and a detailed description of its performance and capabilities.

摘要: Vortex beams with orbital angular momentum has been attracting tremendous attention due to their considerable applications ranging from optical tweezers to quantum information processing. Metalens, an ultra-compact and multifunctional device, provide a desired platform for designing vortex beams. A spin-dependent metalens can boost the freedom to further satisfy practical applications. By combining geometric phase and propagation phase, we propose and demonstrate an approach to design a spin-dependent metalens generating dual-focused vortex beams along longitudinal or transverse direction, i.e., metalenses with predesigned spin-dependent phase profiles. Under the illumination of an elliptical polarization incident beam, two spin-dependent focused vortex beams can be observed, and the relative focal intensity of them can be easily adjusted by modulating the ellipticity of the incident beam. Moreover, we also demonstrated that the separate distance between these dual-focused beams and their topological charges could be simultaneously tailored at will, which may have a profound impact on optical trapping and manipulation in photonics.

摘要: To understand the parameter degeneracy of M subdwarf spectra at low resolution, we assemble a large number of spectral features in the wavelength range of 0.6-2.5 {\mu}m with band strength quantified by narrowband indices. Based on the index trends of BT-Settl model sequences, we illustrate how the main atmospheric parameters (Teff, log g, [M/H], and [alpha/Fe]) affect each spectral feature differently. Furthermore, we propose a four-step process to determine the four parameters sequentially, which extends the basic idea proposed by Jao et al. Each step contains several spectral features that break the degeneracy effect when determining a specific stellar parameter. Finally, the feasibility of each spectroscopic diagnostic with different spectral qualities is investigated. The result is resolution-independent down to R~200.

摘要: We propose how to achieve synthetic $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry in optomechanics without using any active medium. We find that harnessing the Stokes process in such a system can lead to the emergence of exceptional point (EP), i.e., the coalescing of both the eigenvalues and the eigenvectors of the system. By encircling the EP, both non-reciprocal optical amplification and chiral mode switching can be achieved. As a result, our synthetic $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric optomechanics works as a topological optomechanical amplifier. This provides a surprisingly simplified route to realize $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric optomechanics, indicating that a wide range of EP devices can be created and utilized for various applications such as topological optical engineering and nanomechanical processing or sensing.

摘要: Rotation is a critical physical process operating in the formation of Am stars. There is a strong correlation between low-velocity rotation and chemical peculiarity. However, the existence of many non-CP slow rotators challenges the understanding of Am stars. The purpose of our work is to search for low-velocity rotating non-CP A-type stars and Am stars and to make a comparative analysis. In this paper, we pick out a sample from the LAMOST-Kepler project, including 21 Am stars, 125 non-CP slow rotators, and 53 non-CP fast rotators. We calculate the rotational frequencies through periodic change of light curves caused by inhomogeneous stellar surfaces and then obtain the rotational velocities. For slow rotators, the age of Am stars is statistically younger than that of non-CP stars in the same temperature bin. In the comparison of the period, the average amplitude, and stellar mass of Am and non-CP stars, we discover that there is no difference in the photometric variability between Am and non-CP stars, which implies similar inhomogeneities on the surfaces. The average amplitude of non-CP stars has a downward trend with the increase of effective temperature and stellar mass, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction caused by weak dynamo-generated magnetic fields in A-type stars. In addition, we confirm four non-non-CP stars which have flares by checking FOV images, 24 pixel images, and pixel-level light curves.

摘要: In this work, we identify 734 ultracool dwarfs with a spectral type of M6 or later, including one L0. Of this sample, 625 were studied spectroscopically for the first time. All of these ultracool dwarfs are within 360~pc, with a \textit{Gaia} G magnitude brighter than ~19.2 mag. By studying the spectra and checking their stellar parameters (Teff, logg, and [FeH] derived with the LAMOST pipeline, we found their cool red nature and their metallicity to be consistent with the nature of Galactic thin-disk objects. Furthermore, 77 of them show lithium absorption lines at 6708A, further indicating their young ages and substellar nature. Kinematics obtained through LAMOST radial velocities, along with the proper motion and parallax data from Gaia EDR3, also suggest that the majority of our targets are thin-disk objects. Kinematic ages were estimated through the relationship between the velocity dispersion and the average age for a certain population. Moreover, we identified 35 binaries, with 6 of them reported as binaries for the first time.

摘要: The Transition Edge Sensor is extremely sensitive to the change of temperature, combined with the high-Z metal of a certain thickness, it can realize the high energy resolution measurement of particles such as X-rays. X-rays with energies below 10 keV have very weak penetrating ability, so only a few microns thick of gold or bismuth can obtain quantum efficiency higher than 70\%. Therefore, the entire structure of the TES X-ray detector in this energy range can be realized in the microfabrication process. However, for X-rays or gamma rays from 10 keV to 200 keV, sub-millimeter absorber layers are required, which cannot be realized by microfabrication process. This paper first briefly introduces a set of TES X-ray detectors and their auxiliary systems built by ShanghaiTech University, then focus on the introduction of the TES $\gamma$-ray detector, with absorber based on an sub-millimeter lead-tin alloy sphere. The detector has a quantum efficiency above 70\% near 100 keV, and an energy resolution of about 161.5eV@59.5keV.
