  • Spectra of heavy-light mesons in a relativistic model

    摘要: The spectra and wave functions of heavy-light mesons are calculated within a relativistic quark model, which is derived from the instantaneous Bethe-Salpeter equation by applying the Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation on the heavy quark. The kernel we choose is based on scalar confining and vector Coulomb potentials. The Hamiltonian for heavy-light quark-antiquark system is calculated up to order 1/m2Q. The results are in good agreement with available experimental data except for the masses of the anomalous D∗s0(2317) and Ds1(2460) states. The newly observed charmed meson states can be accommodated successfully in the relativistic model and their assignments are presented, the D∗sJ(2860) can be interpreted as the |13/2D1⟩ and |15/2D3⟩ states being the JP=1− and 3− members of the 1D family in our model.

  • SpaceHub: A high-performance gravity integration toolkit for few-body problems in astrophysics

    摘要: We present the open source few-body gravity integration toolkit {\tt SpaceHub}. {\tt SpaceHub} offers a variety of algorithmic methods, including the unique algorithms AR-Radau, AR-Sym6, AR-ABITS and AR-chain$^+$ which we show out-perform other methods in the literature and allow for fast, precise and accurate computations to deal with few-body problems ranging from interacting black holes to planetary dynamics. We show that AR-Sym6 and AR-chain$^+$, with algorithmic regularization, chain algorithm, active round-off error compensation and a symplectic kernel implementation, are the fastest and most accurate algorithms to treat black hole dynamics with extreme mass ratios, extreme eccentricities and very close encounters. AR-Radau, the first regularized Radau integrator with round off error control down to 64 bits floating point machine precision, has the ability to handle extremely eccentric orbits and close approaches in long-term integrations. AR-ABITS, a bit efficient arbitrary precision method, achieves any precision with the least CPU cost compared to other open source arbitrary precision few-body codes. With the implementation of deep numerical and code optimization, these new algorithms in {\tt SpaceHub} prove superior to other popular high precision few-body codes in terms of performance, accuracy and speed.

  • Possible discrimination of black hole origins from the lensing rate of DECIGO and B-DECIGO sources

    摘要: In this paper, we forecast the expected detection rates and redshift distributions of gravitationally lensed gravitational waves (GWs) from three different mass distributions of primordial black holes (PBHs) and two stellar formation models of astrophysical black holes (ABHs) in the context of DECi-hertz Interferometer Gravitational wave Observatory (DECIGO) and it's smaller scale version B-DECIGO. It suggests that DECIGO will be able to detect $10^4-10^5$ GW signals from such binary black holes (BBHs) each year and the event rate distributions for PBHs will differ from those for ABHs due to their different merger rate with respect to redshift. The large number of event rates make $5-100$ detections of lensed GW signals being possible. After considering the gravitational lensing effect, the difference between the detection rates and distributions for PBHs and ABHs will be more significant. Therefore, this can be served as a complementary method to distinguish PBHs from ABHs.

  • Detection Capability Evaluation of Lunar Mineralogical Spectrometer: Results from Ground Experimental Data

    摘要: The Chang'E-6 mission will first land on the far side of the moon and bring lunar samples back. As a hyperspectral imager aboard the Chang'E-6 lander, the Lunar Mineralogical Spectrometer (LMS), will achieve the goal of spectral detection and mineral composition analysis in the sampling area, and the data of LMS will also be compared with the results of the returned sample laboratory measurements. Visible and near-infrared hyperspectral remote sensing is an effective tool for lunar minerals identification and quantification. The ground validation experiment can be used to evaluate the detection ability of the LMS. According to the modal abundances of lunar minerals and glasses of APOLLO samples, binary mixed samples, ternary mixed samples, and seven-membered mixed samples were prepared. The samples were ground and stirred homogeneous to about 200 mesh (median particle size about 75 μm), to simulate the soil state of the lunar surface. Under the laboratory ambient condition, the 480–3200 nm spectral data of the samples were acquired using the Engineering Qualification Model (EQM) of Chang'E-5 LMS, the performance of which is consistent with the flight model of Chang'E-6 LMS. By fitting the mixed samples' spectral data of the EQM using the Modified Gaussian Methods, the following conclusions can be drawn: The subtle spectral changes of mixed samples can be detected. The modal abundance of low-Ca pyroxene, high-Ca pyroxene, and plagioclase can be derived based on the spectral parameters such as absorption position, depth or width of the mixed samples, and the correlation coefficients R2 are better than 82%, indicating that the LMS has good quantitative detection capability.

  • The FAST Ultra-Deep Survey (FUDS): observational strategy, calibration and data reduction

    摘要: The FAST Ultra-Deep Survey (FUDS) is a blind survey that aims for the direct detection of HI in galaxies at redshifts $z<0.42$. The survey uses the multibeam receiver on the Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) to map six regions, each of size 0.72 deg$^2$ at high sensitivity ($\sim 50 \mu$Jy) and high frequency resolution (23 kHz). The survey will enable studies of the evolution of galaxies and their HI content with an eventual sample size of $\sim 1000$. We present the science goals, observing strategy, the effects of radio frequency interference (RFI) at the FAST site, our mitigation strategies and the methods for calibration, data reduction and imaging as applied to initial data. The observations and reductions for the first field, FUDS0, are completed, with around 128 HI galaxies detected in a preliminary analysis. Example spectra are given in this paper, including a comparison with data from the overlapping GAL2577 field of Arecibo Ultra-Deep Survey (AUDS).

  • Topological susceptibility near T$_c$ in SU(3) gauge theory

    摘要: Topological charge susceptibility χt for pure gauge SU(3) theory at finite temperature is studied using anisotropic lattices. The over-improved stout-link smoothing method is utilized to calculate the topological charge. Near the phase transition point we find a rapid declining behavior for χt with values decreasing from (188(1)MeV)4 to (67(3)MeV)4 as the temperature increased from zero temperature to 1.9Tc which demonstrates the existence of topological excitations far above Tc. The 4th order cumulant c4 of topological charge, as well as the ratio c4/χt are also investigated. Results of c4 show step-like behavior near Tc while the ratio at high temperature agrees with the value as predicted by the diluted instanton gas model.

  • A Pilot Study of Interplanetary Scintillation with FAST

    摘要: Observations of Interplanetary Scintillation (IPS) are an efficient remote-sensing method to study the solar wind and inner heliosphere. From 2016 to 2018, some distinctive observations of IPS sources like 3C 286 and 3C 279 were accomplished with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), the largest single-dish telescope in the world. Due to the 270-1620 MHz wide frequency coverage of the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) receiver, one can use both single-frequency and dual-frequency analyses to determine the projected velocity of the solar wind. Moreover, based on the extraordinary sensitivity owing to the large collecting surface area of FAST, we can observe weak IPS signals. With the advantages of both the wider frequency coverage and high sensitivity, also with our radio frequency interference (RFI) mitigation strategy and an optimized model-fitting method developed, in this paper, we analyze the fitting confidence intervals of the solar wind velocity, and present some preliminary results achieved using FAST, which points to the current FAST system being highly capable of carrying out observations of IPS

  • Linear change and minutes variability of solar wind velocity revealed by FAST

    摘要: Observation of Interplanetary Scintillation (IPS) provides an important and effective way to study the solar wind and the space weather. A series of IPS observations were conducted by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). The extraordinary sensitivity and the wide frequency coverage make FAST an ideal platform for IPS studies. In this paper we present some first scientific results from FAST observations of IPS with the L-band receiver. Based on the solar wind velocity fitting values of FAST observations on September 26-28, 2020, we found that the velocity decreases with increasing frequency linearly, which has not yet been reported in literature. And we have also detected a variation of solar wind velocity on a timescale of 3-5 minutes, which imply the slow change of the background solar wind, a co-existence of high- and low-speed streams, or a reflect of the quasi-periodic electron-density fluctuations.

  • Indirect neutron radiography experiment on dummy nuclear fuel rods for pressurized water reactors at CMRR

    摘要: Nuclear energy is a vital source of clean energy that will continue to play an essential role in global energy production for future generations. Nuclear fuel rods are core components of nuclear power plants, and their safe utilization is paramount. Due to its inherent high radioactivity, indirect neutron radiography (INR) is currently the only viable technology for irradiated nuclear fuel rods in the field of energy production. This study explores the experimental technique of indirect neutron computed tomography (INCT) for radioactive samples. This project includes the development of indium and dysprosium conversion screens of different thicknesses and conducts resolution tests to assess their performance. Moreover, a pressurized water reactor (PWR) dummy nuclear fuel rods have been fabricated by self-developing substitute materials for cores and outsourcing of mechanical processing. Experimental research on the INR is performed using the developed dummy nuclear fuel rods. The sparse reconstruction technique is used to reconstruct the INR results of 120 pairs of dummy nuclear fuel rods at different angles, achieving a resolution of 0.8 mm for defect detection using INCT.

  • Massive molecular gas reservoir in a luminous sub-millimeter galaxy during cosmic noon

    摘要: We present multi-band observations of an extremely dusty star-forming lensed galaxy (HERS1) at $z=2.553$. High-resolution maps of \textit{HST}/WFC3, SMA, and ALMA show a partial Einstein-ring with a radius of $\sim$3$^{\prime\prime}$. The deeper HST observations also show the presence of a lensing arc feature associated with a second lens source, identified to be at the same redshift as the bright arc based on a detection of the [NII] 205$\mu$m emission line with ALMA. A detailed model of the lensing system is constructed using the high-resolution HST/WFC3 image, which allows us to study the source plane properties and connect rest-frame optical emission with properties of the galaxy as seen in sub-millimeter and millimeter wavelengths. Corrected for lensing magnification, the spectral energy distribution fitting results yield an intrinsic star formation rate of about $1000\pm260$ ${\rm M_{\odot}}$yr$^{-1}$, a stellar mass ${\rm M_*}=4.3^{+2.2}_{-1.0}\times10^{11} {\rm M_{\odot}}$, and a dust temperature ${\rm T}_{\rm d}=35^{+2}_{-1}$ K. The intrinsic CO emission line ($J_{\rm up}=3,4,5,6,7,9$) flux densities and CO spectral line energy distribution are derived based on the velocity-dependent magnification factors. We apply a radiative transfer model using the large velocity gradient method with two excitation components to study the gas properties. The low-excitation component has a gas density $n_{\rm H_2}=10^{3.1\pm0.6}$ cm$^{-3}$ and kinetic temperature ${\rm T}_{\rm k}=19^{+7}_{-5}$ K and a high-excitation component has $n_{\rm H_2}=10^{2.8\pm0.3}$ cm$^{-3}$ and ${\rm T}_{\rm k}=550^{+260}_{-220}$ K. Additionally, HERS1 has a gas fraction of about $0.4\pm0.2$ and is expected to last 250 Myr. These properties offer a detailed view of a typical sub-millimeter galaxy during the peak epoch of star-formation activity.
