A Study on the Moderate Allocation of Paper Book Procurement in University Libraries

Abstract: Abstract: [Purpose/Significance] Building a moderate allocation method can help
allocate the paperback book procurement volume in a reasonable way among various
disciplines in college libraries.
[Methods/Process] Based on the allocation dilemma of paperback book
procurement volume in various disciplines in college libraries, this study combined
circulation rate, funding guarantee rate, and the ratio of professional books to
non-professional books to establish a moderate allocation model between the
procurement volume for professional discipline books and the books needed to meet
reader demand; based on the discipline-specific factors, this study established a
moderate allocation for the procurement volume of books needed to meet the needs of
professional disciplines; based on the borrowing situation of books by readers, this
study established a moderate allocation for the procurement volume of books needed
to meet the needs of various disciplines.
[Results/Conclusion]Through the practice of paperback book procurement
decision-making at Hunan University of Science and Technology Library, this study
verified that the moderate allocation model is a complete and reasonable allocationframework, achieving the basic guarantee of professional discipline books, relative
balance of reader borrowing supply, and improved paperback book borrowing
utilization rate.
