Abstract:
[Background] With the development of the nuclear industry, the spent fuel produced by nuclear power plants has attracted people's attention due to its high radioactivity. How to ensure the reliable operation of nuclear facilities and the safety of staff occupies a crucial position. [Purpose] In order to avoid lethal radiation, many functional neutron / γ-ray shielding materials have been developed. [Methods]This paper reviews the research progress of different neutron / γ-ray shielding materials for spent fuel storage, including boride stainless steel, Gd-containing composites, B4C/Al composites, lead-containing and tungsten-containing composites. [Results]The advantages and disadvantages of neutron / γ-ray shielding materials are introduced respectively, and the research and development ideas of neutron / γ-ray shielding materials for subsequent spent fuel storage are proposed.
