The Libraries and Think Tanks postprint

Abstract: Purpose/significance The construction of new types of think tanks with Chinese characteristics is the national strategy. It is not only the need of libraries’ business developmentto participate in the think tank construction, but also an important strategy in the new era. Method/process Through analyzing the relationship between libraries and think tanks, this paper explored the path of the library support for the think tank construction, summarizedthe main tasks and measures of the library participation in the think tank construction, and gradually defined the mechanism by whichlibraries supported the construction of think tanks. Result/conclusion The library is closely related to the think tank and should play a role in the construction of think tanks as well. The path of the library support for the think tank construction includes carrying out the basic research of think tanks, enhancing the support service of think tanks, carrying out the special service of think tanks, and developing the library’s own studyof think tanks. The current task is to gradually participate in the research, construction and service of think tanks, and upgrade the capabilities of libraries from the traditional service to the think tank service.
