The Interpretation and Enlightenment of National Library of Medicine Strategic Plan 2017-2027 postprint

Abstract: [Purpose/significance] The purpose of this study is to provide reference and enlightenment for the management and service of medical libraries in China by analyzing and interpreting National Library of Medicine Strategic Plan 2017-2027. [Method/process] NLM strategic plan 2017-2027 was combed and analyzed from the perspective of planning process and core content. The overall goal i.e., to build NLM as a platform for biomedical discovery and data-powered health and three key objectives & action suggestions, i.e., research supports, user service outreach and workforce development, were interpreted emphatically. [Result/conclusion] In order to promote the transformation and development of medical library in China, we should pay more attention to the following aspects in the new era of ‘healthy China’: developing strategic plan in line with national conditions, paying attention to evolution trends and applications of new technology, focusing on the establishment and maintenance of cooperative relations, and promoting the outreach and socialization of health information services.
