Abstract:
[Purpose/significance] As a dynamic characteristic of information and knowledge, the growth law can reveal the attributes of knowledge elements to a certain extent, which has practical significance for the study of knowledge organization and knowledge network construction.[Method/process] After a brief review of the law of literature growth, this paper constructs a data set based on the frequency data of the hot-concepts in Library and Information Science in the past 25 years, carries out curve fitting, and decomposes and analyses the fitting results, and then establishes a growth curve shape measurement Indicator according to the nature of the logical function, then an empirical analysis has been carried out.[Result/conclusion] The validity of the description of the growth of information or knowledge by the law of logical growth is verified by curve fitting and decomposition analysis. The empirical analysis shows that the measurement index proposed in this paper has a good sorting ability for the attributes of the hot-concepts of disciplines. Based on this, the hot-concepts of Library and Information Science can be divided into three groups according to the quadrant:long-term basic concepts, short-term aging concepts and developing hot-concepts.
