Abstract:
In order to improve the flight performance of the flapping-wing aircraft, a new type of flapping-wing structure with a cam rocker as the flutter mechanism was designed based on the principle of flightmovements of large birds.'The corresponding kinematics and aerodynamic models were established. Theseresults indicated that the cam mechanism was optimized by using the flapping mechanism of large birdwings. And the flapping stroke of the flapping wing as the cam mechanism could account about 60% forthe entire flapping stroke. In addition, a kinematic model of the cam rocker flutter mechanism was alsoproposed , and related motion parameters were obtained. The aerodynamic parameters of the cam-rockerflapping-wing structure and the traditional double-ecrank and double-rocker flapping-wing aircraft were respectively calculated and compared by using the strip theory and aerodynamic model. The compared re-sults show that the average lift of the former using the cam rocker flapping mechanism is 1.382 times thatof the latter , and the thnust of the former is about 1. 224 times that the latter. Therefore , the new drivestructure helps to improve the aerodynamic properties of bionic flapping-wing aircraft.
